Kate Burr

USGA PJ Boatwright Jr. Internship

Craig Winter

Director

Oregon Junior Golf is administered by a single full-time employee and one additional seasonal employee.  The seasonal employee provides office and tournament support during the extremely busy summer months where our program will field hundreds of calls and e-mails each week as well as administer over 60 events, 7000 rounds of golf and a membership of approximately 700 juniors.

Staff

Craig joined Oregon Junior Golf in 2011 after working for the Oregon Golf Association since 2007.  At the Golf Association he introduced the OGA Tour and supported Championship and Junior Golf Tournament Operations.  He still serves the Association as their Director of Rules Education and is a nationally respected Rules Educator and one of a handful of people to achieve multiple perfect scores on the PGA/USGA Rules of Golf Exam.

Since joining Oregon Junior Golf, Craig has focused on making the program more accessible while looking to develop the program to better serve all levels of players' skills.

Craig believes that the direction of the program is best set through a combination of staff, committee, junior and parent input and always looks forward to the next suggestion.

Kate, a current Evans Scholar at Oregon State University, was awarded the USGA PJ Boatwright Jr Internship in 2012.

Kate joined Oregon Junior Golf in late June and was responsible for overseeing the preparation of our Sanctioned Tournaments and maintaining the Performance Points Lists.

She also assisted in the administration of all Oregon Junior Golf Majors and the Eddie Hogan Cup Team Matches.

Due to Oregon Junior Golf's close ties to the Oregon Golf Association, Kate was also afforded the opportunity to receive additional exposure to the function of a golf association, including more in depth training on the USGA Handicap and Course Rating System.

Kate will complete a BS in Public Health this Fall and hopes to find employment at a State or Regional Golf Association.
